Brandy is a professional counselor and play therapist trained in forensic mental health. She has testified in both civil and legal matters on cases pertaining to child abuse and custody issues. With a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University and a specialized focus on play therapy and trauma, Brandy Rogers brings a wealth of experience to her role as an educator. Her extensive background, rooted in working with children's advocacy centers, key community agencies, and private practice, has honed her expertise in the areas of child abuse, trauma, attachment, and family dynamics. Brandy’s firsthand experience in delivering mental health treatment, coupled with her active engagement in clinical supervision and training, enriches her pedagogy, making her teaching both informed and deeply empathetic.

Beyond her credentials, Brandy’s passion for play therapy and her commitment to empowering future professionals are the cornerstones of her teaching philosophy. Her dedication to the field is mirrored in her ongoing therapeutic work and her leadership at Bright Path Counseling and Consulting, where she balances consulting with a selective caseload, ensuring she remains connected to the practical applications of play therapy. Workshop Description: 

This workshop equips play therapists with the skills to handle legal requests confidently, using case scenarios and the presenter's forensic expertise. It covers essential legal terms, ethical guidelines from AMHCA, AAMFT, NASW, and APT Best Practices, and how proper record-keeping can enhance competence in legal situations.


Learning Objectives: 

  1. Attendees will analyze the role, the risks, and common requests of a play therapist in legal matters.
  2. Attendees will discuss ethics codes for AMHCA, AAMFT, NASW and the Association for Play Therapy Best Practices that guide decision making when responding to court requests.
  3. Attendees will review and compare how laws for confidentiality may conflict with ethical guidelines and APT best practices in play therapy cases.
  4. Attendees will identify common legal terms.
  5. Attendees will discuss the purpose of record-keeping, progress notes, and what should be in the play therapy record.

Participants are eligible to receive continuing education credit for our live webinars or in-person workshops only if they are present for the entirety of the workshop during all content blocks. To support participant engagement and learning, breaks are provided throughout the workshop. Full attendance during the designated content sessions is required to ensure credit is awarded.

Cancellation and Refund Policy


If you can no longer attend a workshop you have registered for, you may be eligible to either receive a credit for another workshop, or receive a refund if you are within the refund policy period. All live workshop refunds will be honored, less a $10 processing fee for cancellations received at least seven (7) days prior to the date of a live webinar or in-person workshop. For cancellation or credit requests with 6 days or less notice, a refund less a $55 processing fee may be refunded or credited to another workshop. For same day cancellations for workshops with a waiting list, no refund will be issued. Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds for On-Demand (Asynchronous) webinars due to the fact that once purchased, the participant has access immediately to all materials.

Refunds will also not be issued due to technical limitations of the participant. We provide detailed instructions, and we are happy to assist in this area to a reasonable extent; however, we don’t have the staff to guide you through every step of the process.
