Workshop Description: 

This workshop equips play therapists with the foundational skills to engage parents in play therapy with child clients.

Learning Objectives: 

1. Identify 3 reasons parent engagement improves therapeutic outcomes for children.

2. Recognize common barriers that prevent parents from engaging in therapy.

3. Compare and contrast directive and non-directive approaches and discuss how each approach influences the therapist’s engagement with parents.

4. Describe how attachment styles influence parent participation in play therapy.

5. Explain how to assess when and how to include parents in play therapy sessions.

Play therapy credit is only awarded to mental health professionals.


Completion of an evaluation is required to receive continuing education credit.

Participants are eligible to receive continuing education credit for our live webinars or in-person workshops only if they are present for the entirety of the workshop during all content blocks. To support participant engagement and learning, breaks are provided throughout the workshop. Full attendance during the designated content sessions is required to ensure credit is awarded.
